Associate Professor
Dr Omer L. Sen is specialized in the field of hydrometeorology. During his MS studies, he collected and analyzed the eddy covariance data from a riparian site in the southern Arizona, and modeled the land-atmosphere interactions for the site using an early version SiB2. In his PhD studies, he mainly dealed with the manual and automatic calibration of the land surface models such as BATS and SiB2. He also investigated the impact of field calibrated surface parameters in GCM simulations. His postdoctoral duty at the International Pacific Research Center of the University of Hawaii was to implement a land surface model into a regional atmospheric model that was under development back then. After completing his task there, he returned to Turkey and joined to the Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences at Istanbul Technical University as an assistant professor. Since then, he has been mostly carrying out climate- and anthropogenic climate change related studies for the eastern Mediterranean and southeast Asia.
